Horoscope for the week of 7.17 - 7.23 || Leo season + Leo new moon and the divine spark of light wit

Good evening friends! I hope your evening is treating you well.

Just to give a little bit of an update on the astrological climate of the weekend, we are in the middle of the last quarter square of the moon. The moon is waning now and ideally we would spend time reflecting on what has entered our consciousness since the full moon in Capricorn. The last quarter moon square, currently with the sun placed in Cancer and the moon placed in Aries, usually brings with it a time of existential crisis, internal conflict and heralds a yin cycle where we are more inward. The moon in Aries is being blasted with the immense energy of Uranus and the Sun in Cancer is being agitated by Mars, causing an internal crisis of sorts or a feeling of being torn between. Once we get into the new moon in Leo on Sunday, we will all be feeling quite a bit lighter, ready to express creatively and act from a place of heart.

There are still quite a few retrograde influences going on that can make things pretty dicey. Pluto retrograde in Capricorn is forcing us to surrender where we can, especially to worldly attachments, and asking us to question our relationship to personal power and systemic power. Saturn is still moving retrograde in Sagittarius, making spiritual integrity of the highest importance, casting doubts about our belief system. Chiron retrograde in Pisces is calling us to look at a core wound again to make sure that we understood the lesson the first time (there's a chance it also relates to the collective unconscious). Neptune in retrograde is calling us toward our spiritual purpose by showing or dragging us on a nonlinear path.

Pluto is going back to degree 17 of Capricorn on Sunday, the same day as the new moon. The following is an illustration of the 17th degree of Capricorn from a book called Inside Degrees by Ellias Lonsdale:

CAPRICORN 17 A gold ring baked into a cake. Initiation is a secretive affair. It calls forth discernment and offers immense awakening. It is a narrow path, stern and demanding. Everything proves illusory. The world becomes an empty egg. Yet the guiding ray is so pure. And if the tests are passed, exquisite self-realization is there. A reminder of what you've forgotten. A vow or promise reinstated. Something neglected and denied returning in the most startling ways. A fatelike feeling of get-it-now or get-it-later. No fruitions in the outer, yet all is bright on the inner.

- This degree point, on the same day as the new moon, illustrates what we're supposed to be working on as a collective. The North Node is transiting through the sign of Leo, indicating a time where a lot of astrologers predict the finding and expression of love. I do believe, however, that the love and the light that we seek in others is what we should be trying to ignite within ourselves. This new moon is all about love that comes from within and trying to ignite that spark of light regardless of what is going on around us.

On Monday, Venus in Gemini squares Neptune in Pisces, causing a potential for miscommunications and projections in the realm of romance. There could be things that you want to say to someone you just don't have the words for. The Mars in Cancer/Uranus in Aries square that has been percolating will also be exact, so I caution you to be careful and on top of things so as to not cause any accidents. These two squares are quelled by the calmness of the moon in Taurus, reminding us to drink water, nourish ourselves well and get good rest.

On Tuesday, Venus in Gemini is making a harmonious trine to Jupiter in Libra. This is a day of luck abounding and great times with the right people. Possibly a good day to network or to have an open discussion, but only if you feel comfortable (moon in Taurus).

On Wednesday, the moon moves into the restless sign of Gemini, putting a lot on our minds and our plates. The devil is in our thoughts with the moon in Gemini, so check in with any thought forms that aren't really working for you and choose to break that cycle for the easiest motion through this lunation. Mercury in Leo is going to be reaching out to Saturn in Sagittarius in an abundant trine, indicating that material matters are going to come with a certain degree of ease, especially as the Mars-Uranus square moves off its exact position and our technologies will be functioning normally again. Wednesday is a great day to get a bunch of stuff done in a quick and passionate manner and then catch up with the people who mean the most to you.

On Thursday, Venus in Gemini will be making a quincunx to Pluto in Capricorn. A quincunx aspect is a 150 degree angle that is formed where the two planets/asteroids/luminaries can't see each other from where they are in the sky. Venus in Gemini is for better or for worse more of a surface, casual love. A lot of chatter and promises can be shared with Venus in Gemini. Pluto in Capricorn is a bit more serious and wants us to do our souls work which as a collective, being that the North Node is in Leo, is to connect with our own light and our own heart. Sit with yourself and breathe and be today. Continuing on with the conflicting planetary energy, the Sun in Cancer is making a square aspect to Uranus in Aries. This could look like a conflict of ego and who we really are. We should be dropping our ego especially in regards to relationships and our relationship to ourselves. The fullness of who you are shows up more when ego and judgment is suspended, and Thursday is a great day to create space for yourself in that way.

Also on Thursday, Mars moves into Leo. We'll be aggressively going after what we want- kicking ass and taking names. Our work will be something we want to be proud of and show off and we will be dealing a lot with issues of personal power and heart. Just make sure you are nice to the other people on your journey.

On Friday, the Sun in Cancer offers a beautiful trine to Chiron in Pisces, indicating a great day for healing and releasing of emotional baggage. Nurture yourself by making a cup of hot tea or drawing a bath. With Mercury, planet of communication, conjunct karmic North Node in Leo, writing could be a great way to release old stuff. The moon will be moving into the sign of Cancer to join the party. Be on the lookout for flashes of intuition or signs and synchronicities- great day to be in the flow.

On Saturday, the Sun comes into the sign of Leo! Leo season!!! I am a Leo and this means that the heat of the summer is coming to its fullest expression and so is the Sun. The Sun feels sometimes a little too comfortable expressing the needs of the ego when the Sun is here. It also means we have a great chance at connecting with the divine child within us, seeing old situations from Cancer season in a new light and reframing things positively. The tendency sometimes with Leonine energy is to draw the focus to the self a little too much, so focus on sharing that light with others.

Sunday, the moon becomes full in Leo! This is a time to spend daydreaming, creating and laughing, generously loving yourself and priming yourself for the harvest, which comes in Virgo season. Virgo season comes with an abundance of productivity and new work efforts, so the question for this new moon is- how are you going to care for yourself enough to put yourself in a good frame of mind to get there?
